Loss and Grief

Grieving a loss

Grieving is a painful and shared human experience that connects us all, and is a natural response to loss in its many forms.

The loss can be felt with the death of a loved one, ending a relationship, losing a job or role, moving away, retiring – to name a few.

If grieving doesn’t happen or it lasts a long time, then it is held in the body, bringing sadness and depressing feelings. This lowers energy, we feel dispirited, and life seems bleak.

Job and relationship loss can also lower our confidence and self-esteem. Sometimes we realise how dependent we were on what we lost, and find it difficult to grieve and move forward – we cannot see the way clear on what to do next. See my page on Life Changes/Reinvention.

Counselling brings patience and understanding to the grieving process.
It honours the loss experience and offers healing.
